Operating Cost Panel
Either monthly or annual distance is enough. If annual distance is entered, it takes priority. Enter your real-world average fuel consumption in liters per 100 km.
What is included?
Fuel cost is always calculated. In “Fuel + entered annual costs” mode, insurance, vehicle tax, maintenance and other annual costs are added. Depreciation and financing are not assumed automatically; add them under “Other annual costs” if you want to include them.

How is cost per kilometer calculated?
Core formula
First, annual distance is determined. Annual fuel cost = annual distance × (L/100 km ÷ 100) × fuel price. In “Fuel + entered annual costs” mode, insurance, vehicle tax, maintenance and other costs are added. Cost per kilometer = annual total cost ÷ annual distance; cost per 100 km is that result × 100.
How is the monthly cost calculated?
The monthly result is the annual total cost divided by 12. If annual distance is entered, it takes priority in the distance calculation.
Is this the same as total cost of ownership?
No. The result includes only the cost items you enter. Add depreciation, finance interest, parking or other costs under “Other annual costs” if you want a broader ownership-cost estimate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to enter annual distance?
No. If annual distance is blank, the calculator multiplies monthly distance by 12.
Why should I include fixed annual costs?
Insurance, vehicle tax, maintenance and other annual costs show the non-fuel portion of running the vehicle. Their cost per kilometer becomes more noticeable when annual distance is low.
Should I include vehicle depreciation?
If you want a broader ownership-cost estimate, you can add estimated annual depreciation under “Other annual costs”. The calculator does not assume a depreciation amount because it varies widely by vehicle and market.
